A World

The Creative World

What is this maker trying to do, and did they do it?

What this World is

Why it is worth a childhood's attention.

Art is not decoration and not therapy. It is a discipline of intention, revision and judgement — and one of the few places a child learns to finish something to their own standard rather than someone else's.

The Creative World is one of ten permanent Worlds in the WSA knowledge architecture. It is not a theme and it does not rotate. Any interest that genuinely opens onto the questions below enters here, and keeps entering here, at increasing difficulty, for as long as the child stays interested.

  • Whose work is it when a machine made part of it?
